FEW RESEARCH ISSUES

RESEARCH:
Research is the systematic process of collecting and analysing information for some purpose and normally aims at answering questions to which answers are not readily available

ASSESSMENT:
Assessment is a process of collecting, synthesizing, and interpreting information in order to aid decision making. The tools use in collecting assessment information include direct and informal obervation, questionnaires, interviews, and collections of some secondary information.

MEASUREMENT:
Measurement is the systematic assigning of numbers, symbols or identities to objects or events and the ultimate function of measurement is to quantify information.

EVALUATION:
Evaluation is deeper than assessment, measurement, and research since it involvesnot only the process of collecting and analysing data but alsointerpreting the data and drawing conclusion on the basis of the information so that decision can be made. Evaluation is the judgement process that is used to determine the quality or worth of performance, product, procedures or events.

GENERAL PRINCIPLES OF EVALUATION
The following include general principles of evaluation; these princples diect the process and serve as the criteria for appraising the effectiveness of specific procedures and pracrices;
i).Determining and clarifying what is to be evaluated always has apriority in the evaluation,
ii).Evaluation techniques should be selected according to the purpose to be served,
iii).Comprehensive evaluation requires a variety of evaluation techniques,
iv).Proper use of evaluation techniques requires an awareness of both limitations and their strengths,
v)Evaluation is a means to an end, and not an end in itself.
